Volunteering at Care Net
Care Net Pregnancy Center’s ministry is rooted in the compassion and love of Jesus Christ. While on earth, Jesus ministered on a one-to-one basis to the needs of broken people. This compassionate love has changed countless hearts and minds over the ages. Our desire is to share the love of Jesus and empower women and men to make positive life-affirming choices. When hurting women encounter Jesus in the midst of their crises, their lives are forever changed.
Sometimes, after our own lives have been changed by an encounter with the Lord, we may experience a tugging on our heart for women and men hurting in a similar or related area. Isaiah experienced this when he encountered God. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8. Isaiah heard God’s voice calling him and he responded. God calls each of us If your calling is to the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Frederick, then you will be embarking on an incredible journey.
One thing to remember is that God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. In Jude 1, we are reminded…“To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ.” Jude tells us that God does more than call us. He wraps that calling in love, and keeps us by His grace. Our calling is a calling of love!
The Frederick Care Net Center conducts new volunteer trainings three different times throughout the year — winter, spring and fall. The time investment for each training is approximately 24 hours. Trainings are offered during different time frames and days to accomodate busy schedules. There are a variety of ways to begin volunteering in the Center prior to taking the training, one-to-one client contact being the exception.
The process of getting started as a Care Net volunteer includes: signing off on the ministy’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith and Statement of Principle, completion of the application and reference form, and a personal interview. If you are feeling that tug on your heart and would like to respond by saying, “Here am I, send me” as Isaiah did, please take the next step and contact Linda King, Client Center Director at (301)662-5300 x221.
